Good luck to the members of Team 3D who are taking part in the Fan Dance Race Series today. The event is a gruelling 24km non-navigational race over two sides of Pen Y Fan, the highest mountain in the Brecon Beacons. This infamous route has long been a part of SAS (Special Air Service) and SBS (Special Boat Service) Selection and is considered the yardstick of a candidate’s potential to perform well on Test Week and ultimately pass the Special Forces Selection programme.
As some of you might have heard, one member of the CrossFit community, Kevin Ogar, was seriously injured at the OC Throwdown last weekend. He failed a snatch, which dropped on his back, and completely severed the spinal cord at T11-T12. At this time he has no voluntary function below that point.
This is from his friend Jacob Tsypkin: “I’ve known Kevin since before Ryan and I opened CrossFit Monterey. He was an active member of a CrossFit group on Facebook which I helped run. He participated in events with us, commisserated over horrible workouts we’d dreamt up, and was part of the crew of CrossFitters who supported me when I decided to open a gym.
Kevin is a great man, a great coach, and a great athlete, and he needs help. If you have anything at all you can spare, I ask that you please contribute whatever is possible towards alleviating some of Kevin’s medical expenses.”
We will be making a collection in the gym to show our support for this man and one of our extended family. If you can not make it down to train with us and donate then please, if you can, follow this link and make a donation: http://kevinogar.com any amount large or small will be a huge help for Kevin.
