International Women’s Day Event

This month we’re incredibly excited to have our first ever International Women’s Day event at CrossFit 3D. Our CrossFit community is made up of some incredible women. Not only do they come to train and get stronger, but they lift each other up and bring amazing energy to 3D.


Which is why we wanted to get in on the International Women’s Day action and celebrate not just our members, but women in general. Long standing member, Kate Kate Cocker is helping us host a day of workouts and good chat finished off with an expert panel session talking all things women’s health.

What is the International Women’s Day event about?

It’s about hormones and hormone health. We’ll be talking all about hormone health for high performance and the part hormones play when it comes to hitting PBs. 

Everyone has those days where they’re sky high, confidence soaring and they feel like they could lift 3 x their body weight. Then there’s those other days where a box jump feels like climbing Snowdonia in slippers. 

We’ll be diving into the reasons this happens and what we can do about it. Kate will cover things like the impact of the pill, the menopause, and even sugar, and how these things can affect your progression. There’ll be chat about the menstrual cycle and its phases, with advice on how you can harness each one to get the most out of your training. If you’re lifting in the luteal phase and it isn’t hitting the same as it did two weeks ago, trust us there’s a reason for that. 

Although the focus is on hormones and how they link to your training, you’ll discover some key takeaways that drip feed into the rest of your life too.

What’s the plan?

The day kicks off on Sunday 12th March at 11am. We’ll get things going with a 60 minute workout. The day is all about how female health matters, so the WOD will be programmed around this, with plenty of information about the actual workout and how to approach training. It’s also been planned with every ability in mind, from long term CrossFit members to complete newcomers. After we’ve gotten to grips with the workout there’ll be a break and time for some food before sitting down with our very own Kate Cocker and a panel of experts including:

Dr Sarah Davies - Functional Medicine Practitioner

It will be a fresh and informal chat with time for you to ask any questions. Feel free to take notes so you don’t forget anything that strikes a chord. We want everyone to walk away knowing how they can get the most out of their cycle and their hormones and maximise their potential in the gym and out of it.
